PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Seismic retrofit of south approach structures and anchorage for this twin tower, 6,500' long (1125'-4200'-1125') suspension bridge over the channel between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. Demolish and replace main piers; rebuild foundations; replace rivets, laterals and braces, and add isolator bearings and energy dissipation devices to steel truss and arch bridge; deck joint modifications and joint isolation assemblies.
